Steiff Polar Bear Cub on all Fours – this guy is no teddy bear!
– this polar bear is the hard-to-find largest of the three sizes offered: 25 cm (also came in 12 cm and 17 cm)
– he measures about 12″ long x 8″ high
– this large polar bear was produced from 1952-1961; the overall production for all three sizes was 1950-1972
– this largest is rare
– made of a white mohair
– overall he is made out of medium length mohair and his face/muzzle is made out of shorter mohair
– he has tan wool felt paw pads
– the hallmark glorious sapphire blue and black eyes for these polar bears
– hand embroidered black mouth and nose
– unjointed
– He is in good vintage condition with play wear and areas of mohair loss less noticeable as the fabric is white under the bristles of the mohair; there is a small opening at the right front paw pad seam and small wear holes in the left hind paw pad. I’ve tried to show it all in the pictures
– I find him very attractive, a true vintage piece great for display
