Steiff Fawn Young Deer
– another great example of the forest animals produced in the 1950’s era
– she retains ID: Her US Zone Tag, which was used from 1947-1953 in the postwar (World War II) era
– she is a 12 cm piece / almost 5″ tall
– overall this young deer was manufactured in this size from 1949 – 1958
– based on the USZT she was made between 1949-1953
– this size was made entirely of a cotton/wool velveteen (not true velvet)
– she has black eyes
– she also has a hand-embroidered black floss nose and mouth, and there is a white highlight stitch across her nose
-she is unjointed and hard Excelsior stuffed
– her airbrushed darker brown color and baby deer spots is still quite striking given her age, and she has nice detail of her delicate legs and hooves
– her seams are sound, and she’s lost her id other than her USZT, – she’s surely been handled there is no other flaws I see
– lovely for any Steiff collection or at Christmas time
